Acknowledgement to / Reconocimiento a la Embajadora/Ambassador Mª Cristina Barrios y Almanzor Cónsul de España en Miami
The International Press Club of Miami and The Florida Association of Hispanic Journalists (www.fahj.org), recognized the work of Ambassador Maria Cristina Barrios and Almanzor, Consul of Spain to Florida, South Carolina and Georgia, for the promotion Hispanic culture and our language in the U.S..
Ms. Barrios and Almanzor, who was special ambassador for the Reconstruction of Haiti and comply Special Mission for Climate Change (2007), after serving as Deputy Consul of Spain in Dusseldorf, was the first Deputy Chief of Protocol and the first introducer of Ambassadors and upper boss Protocol Department, Foreign Ministry and Orders.
In 1998 he was appointed ambassador to Spain in Sweden and Latvia with residence in Stockholm, and in 2003 was appointed ambassador to Mexico.

The year 2013 will mark the 500th anniversary of the arrival of the Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon and in two years will be held the fourth centenary of the foundation by the Spanish also Menendez St. Augustine, the oldest city in the country.

La Sra. Barrios y Almanzor, quien fuera embajadora especial para la Reconstrucción de Haití y cumpliera Misión Especial para el Cambio Climático (2007), luego de desempeñarse como Cónsul adjunta de España en Dusseldorf, fue primera jefe adjunta de Protocolo y primera introductora de Embajadores y jefa superior de los Servicios de Protocolo, Cancillería y Órdenes.
En 1998 fue designada embajadora de España en Suecia y Letonia, con residencia en Estocolmo, y en 2003 fue nombrada embajadora en México.

Este año 2013 se cumplirá el 500 aniversario de la llegada del explorador español Ponce de León y en dos años se celebrará el cuarto centenario de la fundación por el también español Pedro Menéndez de Avilés de San Agustín, la ciudad más antigua del país.
El español es la lengua más estudiada en EEUU al tiempo que España es el décimo inversor en los EEUU, con $50,000 millones de dólares.

The five member board elected is as follow: Humberto Estenoz and Pedro A. Gonzalez, Jr with 100% of votes, Bill Lara with 80%, Joseph B. Treaster with 60%, Natalie French, Vicente Rodríguez and Pedro Rodríguez Medina with 50% and Aleida Marin Perez and Agustin Rangugni with 20%.
The positions in the five member Board are: Humberto Estenoz, President; Pedro A. Gonzalez Jr, Vice-president; Bill Lara, Secretary and the Directors: Joseph B. Treaster and Vicente Rodriguez.
